Ms. Klass, 31, spotted the teenagers from her kitchen window as they were coming into her garden. She grabbed a knife and started banging on the windows to get their attention and make them leave. Police, however, did not agree that her actions were warranted and informed her that brandishing an “offensive weapon” was illegal. She was not issued a warning, though, according to a police spokeswoman.

Ms. Klass, a former pop star, was in her Potters Barn home while her daughter was upstairs. Graham Quinn, her fiancé, was away on business when the incident occurred. Klass said that it was a scary incident and she has no regrets as to the way she handled it. She feels she did what any other mother would have done.

The Hertfordshire police issued a statement saying that the officers spoke to the home owner in an attempt to reassure her. They spoke through the security and offered advice as to the importance of reporting suspicious activity immediately so that the police could react appropriately.

This statement went on to reiterate that no official warnings were issued to Ms. Klass regarding her actions with the knife.
It is hoped that in the future the increased security of Ms. Klass’s home will help keep out unwanted prowlers. However, in the event that it does not, she has shown herself to be more than ready to defend what is hers. It is not noted if the teens were reprimanded or not.
