The relationships between Uma Thurman, the star of “Dangerous Liaisons”, “Pulp Fiction”, “Gattaca” and “Kill Bill”, and Franco-Swiss financier Arpad Busson have been stopped. It was reported about the break of their engagement that lasted from the summer of 2007.

Uma Thurman and Arpad Busson got acquainted at one of the parties held during Fashion Week in Milan. The actress was impressed by Arpad’s passion, energy and recklessness. The millionaire persuaded Uma that she would feel a real happy woman only with him. As far back as in 1994 Arpad say Uma in “Pulp Fiction” and publicly stated that some day he would marry her. Surprisingly as it may seem, the initiator of the engagement was the actress herself. The pair stated about their intention to marry in June 2007, but the date of the marriage was not set as they did not want to hurry.  However, after the quarrel that has reached this scale, no one is likely to watch a luxurious wedding that was going to be held in Kensington Palace, the former official residence of Diana, Princess of Wales until her death in 1997.

One of the possible reasons of their parting is said to be a distance between them. As the matter of the fact Uma lives in the U.S.A. while her former fiancé  is in England. They often had quarrels because of it. The actress claims that she can’t imagine her life anywhere else not close to her children. Uma Thurman has a son and a daughter after the marriage with Ethan Hawke, the actor whom she met during the shooting of Gattaca. Arpad Busson has two sons with his ex-wife, the model Elle MacPherson.

It has been also supposed that the reason of their split was money. Now Uma is going to return everything that she has got from Busson including an 8-plus carat ring that was presented by Arpad for their engagement.
