Roman Polanski pleaded guilty of raping a teenage girl 31 year ago. But the famous movie director was arrested only last week. However, the fact that it took so much since the offence was not the most striking one. It was even more surprising to find out who his victim was.

Samantha Geimer lives in Hawaii and has three children now. The woman says that Polanski did the wrong thing and it was an awful mistake but he has paid for it. She does not think he poses any danger to society, though. She is the only one who has ever accused the award-winning director of anything like that.

In February this year the woman said that these years of publicity and the prosecutor’s inability to consider the major things only traumatized more and more. The woman claimed that the court tended to pay attention mostly to her and her family, what was really unpleasant and distressing. Thus, she decided to ask the court to dismiss the charges against Polanski.

When Samantha was 13 year old, she got an invitation for a private photo shoot at Jack Nicholson’s private home in LA. Samantha’s mother gave her permission and the young model was to be photographed by Polanski for the French edition of vogue. Later was a session at the spa pool and there she realized he got other intentions but could not do much.

In the court the girl testified then that the director had various sexual acts with her without her consent and after giving her drugs and champagne. Polanski was charged with sexual assault by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy and having lecherous acts with a child. However, the director pleaded guilty only to have a sexual intercourse with a minor.

On 1 February 1978 Polanski left the USA awaiting his sentence. It took 31 year to finally catch him and bring to justice.
