Johnny Depp, an Oscar-nominated actor for the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean” by Disney, received a career achievement award at the International Film Festival. The fest took place in Nassau at the Bahamas at Sunday night.

Before receiving the award for his acting work, the Hollywood actor made some comments. Mr. Depp confessed to pressmen in his uneasiness every time he got the award like this. The famous heartthrob turns out to be very modest saying that he can never get used to receiving the awards for his job. Johnny Depp claimed that what he did was just his work; he went to it as everyone else did, but still his job happened to be a bit more unusual than any common job. That is why the actor always gets amazed after he receives awards and the first thing that flashes through his mind is the question ‘why?’.

Johnny Depp was presented with the award at the Balmoral Club in Nassau by the fellow acting superstar Sean Connery (best known for the roles of James Bond in films between 1962 and 1983.).

Leslie Vanderpool, the founder of the Bahamas International Film Festival, said that Johnny Depp was a specific “icon” the finest actors of the generation. Vanderpool admitted that the positive moment about the actor was that he had a great respect and love for the native Bahamas and its culture.

Depp has a variety of rather different screen images for the last years. The starring roles include the roles in “Edward Scissorhands”, “Donnie Brasco,” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” It is announced that new “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” are going to be made with Johnny Depp in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The beginning of filming is going to be in summer of 2011.
