On Wednesday, People magazine announced the “sexiest man alive”. The title went to the famous actor Johnny Depp. This is already the second time he is named the sexiest. Thus, he joined the club of double honorees, among whom such celebrities as George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

The star of the famous movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” was named by the magazine “the king of cool with the killer cheekbones”. Depp already got the “sexiest” title six years ago, in 2003, and this year he even outstripped the last year’s winner Hugh Jackman.

When People senior editor, Kate Coyne, was to answer at the CBS Early Show the question, why the actor got the title for the second time already, she said that Depp was sexy ten years ago and would be so in ten year time. She also added that the famous pirate was appealing to a great number of women and what is more important to very different kinds of women.

Among Depp’s latest roles we can name that of John Dillinger, a 1930s gangster in “Public Enemies” and the murderous London barber “Sweeny Todd”. He is also starring in the adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” directed by Tim Burton. The release is expected in March the following year.

Coyne also mentioned that a 46-year-old actor was a loving and caring father in real life.

People also acknowledged the popularity of movies about vampires and TV shows, thus adding to the list of the sexiest Robert Pattinson starring in “Twilight” and Ian Somerhalder from “Vampire Diaries”.

The title “sexiest rising star” was given to Matt Boomer, who stars in the new TV series “White Collar”. This year’s People’s list was joined by Adam Lambert, Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling.

Previously the title of the sexiest man alive was won by Matt Damon (2007), Matthew McConaughey (2005), Jude Law (2004) and Ben Affleck (2002).
